I've recently re-started to [foolishly] customize MATE on an HP Envy Note 8 tablet which is an under-powered, Wacom integrated PC tablet device. I'm currently running 21.04.
Aside from breaking into C itself, is there a way to globally mandate that windows actually 1) obey maximize flags (mate-system-monitor, signal, mate-tweak, etc just DON'T) and 2) remove the "minimum window size" using a command flag? I've tried a ton of things (commands, dfcon-editor, other programs, etc) and just can't get certain programs to behave a bit more dynamically in portrait mode?
I'm writing about this on my blog (under Paper Cuts) where I detail some issues but the window thing is killing me in portrait mode and using normal DPI at 1 scale is unusable. If only there were true fractional scaling!
I'd love if I could autostart an application using the/similar flag "--window --maximize" or maximus actually always wrangled these other programs. Even some of the more pure "gnome horrible gtk3 UI" programs won't maximize properly (which I find frustratingly ironic).
Love to hear any suggestions on this issue.
