Hello folks!
I managed to make my brother switch from Gnome 3 to Mate and he's the happiest man on Earth.
Though, after the migration, he found two app indicators in the top panel which cannot be moved, clicked - either with right or left button - removed or whatever; a red one showing number 9 and another, white, with the capital letter A. You can see them here just left of Syncthing.
Does anyone know what the hell are they?

Just a guess: Number Lock and Caps Lock
You can test to see.

As @charles-nix stated.
You can uncheck at 4 but to just move you will have to right click on various items and unlock then move. If some are locked you can't move.
Edit it replaces indicators that used to be included on keyboards handy to have.

I couldn't replicate it because in my panel I haven't any notification area applet, so they weren't shown at all.
