Thank you, Eugene. A small part of my motivation was trying to use the my posts in this category as a call to members to show the world that UM is where things happen! I'm glad you took up that "Call to Arms!"

Interesting game rules:

If shot is miss, turn passes to other player.

If shot is a hit, player continues taking additional shots until he misses!

Certainly puts the pressure on making good guesses! :slight_smile:

My favourite part of the code is 'hunt down' mode for the computer player. Well, you know, when the opponent's ship is hit, you do not continue to hit randomly, but purposefully shoot immediately adjacent cells, find out the ship direction, etc...

Is that AI, I wonder? :rofl:

Yes, writing the 'hunt down' part was the most fun ( did that on a Sinclair ZX81)

Wow! To think that I also had one of those. My unfortunate mis-step was having bought a Bytec Hyperion, which had just enought incompatibility to screw things over for me.

Made it last for about 5 years but by then it was too frustrating to stick with it. :frowning:
