Need to configure login screen to allow windows domain logins

Hi, i joined my ubuntu mate computer to my windows domain and now i need to configure the login screen to allow me to login as a domain user. i just cant seem to get the option i need to appear. can someone help me

Hello
I don’t think such a thing is possible.
Only time where I’ve seen machines using the same credentials on Windows and Ubuntu machines it was because they were using an LDAP server for account management.

Hi @Dudefoxlive,

does this help at all?:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ServerGUI

Did you tried to logon with user= “domain\username” ?
May be you should double backslash to escape shell and use : “domain\\username” ?

Else could you describe your how you joined the domain with your machine ?

There is a goog tuto here : https://www.linux.com/learn/how-join-ubuntu-machine-windows-domain

and there : https://www.unixmen.com/how-to-join-an-ubuntu-desktop-into-an-active-directory-domain/

Does it help ?

here i followed a video that said to download power something which is a replacement to the likewise and i used it to connect to my windows domain. then i also followed the steps to add the login option to the login screen. first time got stuck in a boot loop (fixed that without a reinstall) second booted but no option. thought it would be smart enough to use other but i guess not. so right now it is connected to the domain but i can’t login to any domain accounts and i am stuck running under the account i made during setup.

See this thread on ubuntu http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2200092

In the middle of the conversation WRSTONE talk about " PowerBroker Identity Services Open (PBIS Open)".
I presume that it is your “powersomething”.

And the problem was that the netbios name of the machine has absolutely to be in capital letters.
(see the last post).
