Newly Installation Errors on New Computer Build

Greetings All,
Since I enjoyed Ubuntu MATE 20.04 LTS on my laptop, I decided to install it on my brand new desktop build. After the initial install and manual installing a Ourlink Wireless USB Adapter, I had the system up and running without issue. Please see below for system hardware. However, I tried to do bulk remove and add with the software boutique. I removed the default e-mail client, and added Chromium, Software, and Synaptic Package Manager. This where I believed issued started. I am not sure if it was a wireless failure or network issue, but I had to stop the install process of the software. It got hung up on the Chromium install, so I had to restart my system after an hour of no progress with the software install. After that I get the following error intermittently:

And now this one is coming up occasionally:

I am not sure what to do about this or where to start, so any help that you all can provide would greatly appreciated.

It is possible the processor is too new. UM 20.04 was released April 2020 and any CPU or APU that came out after that LTS release might not be in the Linux kernel. I think there are ways to get a newer kernel but I am not versed on how to do that. I had the same issue even with UM 19.10 when I built a PC with an AMD APU that came out in November 2019. Anyway, that might be part of the issue. Maybe someone else can give you better clarity on that 11th generation Intel CPU you have. Alternatively, you can try installing the community edition of Manjaro Mate which is very close to UM (the next best version of the Mate desktop) but it is a rolling release and would have a newer kernel. I have used that too and it works great. That is the one drawback of using an LTS release; sometimes new hardware is not supported. Hope this points you in the right direction. Best regards… :+1:t3::slightly_smiling_face:

Hello!

Sometimes UM keeps reporting about the same crash occurrence again and again. To get rid of the false positive reports one has to clean /var/crash directory contents.

If crash report still reappears that is a sign of faulty application. In your case it is 'esper' screensaver. You might want to disable it to see if the crash would disappear.

Gene

Hello HJV and ugnvs,
Thanks for your thoughtful responses, and after a day to think about what both of you said and my other option to reinstall the system since this was a new build, I decided to reinstall the system which turned out to be the best option over time. The computer is running quickly as it was before without errors and time out issues. I have another issue with my WIFI-6e which I will be posting soon . Again Thanks for your time and input. It is greatly appreciated.
