No GUI for file manager

Hi Guys,

I may be missing something very obvious, but when I click on the file manager icon I get no GUI. Just goes straight to ‘File management preferences’.

I’m new to Ubuntu Mate, any help would be greatly appreciated.

where are you clicking on the icon, the file management and file manager icons look identical the file manager is called caja the other is called file management preferences

Search for Caja- that’s the file manager for MATE, and you’ll get the GUI to browse your files.
The “File Management”, as you said, opens up the “File management preferences”.
