No notice when a Blank DVD is inserted

Hello,

when I insert a blank DVD-R there is no sign that the DVD has been successfully inserted, on the desktop and also not in Caja. K3b burner does detect the blank DVD. It is only when I plug in an external hard drive in the computer USB port that the icon of the blank DVD finally appears on the desktop simultaneously with the hard drive and also in Caja.

If I insert a blank DVD when an external hard drive is already plugged into the USB port there is also no sign that the DVD has been successfully inserted, not on the desktop and also not in Caja. Is it normal or is there some settings to be made? 17.10 Daily Build downloaded yesterday is installed.

There is no problem with already burned DVD with data.

I tested the same (on 17.10 beta 1) and have the exact same behaviour as you described above. So it seems to be a bug.

I also tested the same steps on my main machine on 16.04.3 and there the issue doesn’t exist, everything works as expected.

If maybe one or two additional people could check/test and confirm, that they also have the same issue, then I would open a bug request on launchpad.
