I am using Dell Inspiron 15 3000 laptop. It had perfect sound in windows. I then boot Ubuntu Mate 16.04 and there is no sound at all, neither through speaker nor through headphone.
I searched every possible way out but ultimately what I found is there is no sound card. Also, Alsamixer is not working. How can I fix this problem?
You have to have a sound card if you had sound on Windows. Install "hardinfo" and find out the make and model of your sound card. It will be system profiler and benchmark under system tools. Then look under PCI devices> audio devices, there maybe more than one listing, check the whole list.
