Nvidia x server settings dont work

Hi everyone,
I've already install NVIDIA driver for GeForce GTX750 Ti version 367.35 in Ubuntu 16.04.1 according to:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVTsemATIyI
and
BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia - Community Help Wiki

So now in: Software & Updates>Additional Driver its says:
NVIDIA Corportarion: GM107[GeForce GTX 750 Ti]
(*) Continue using a manually installed driver.

However, when i try: System > Preferences>Other> NVIDIA X SERVER SETTINGS, a pop up windows appear:

"You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run nvidia-xconfig as root), and restart the X server."

when I open the terminal (ctrl + alt + t) and try the command: sudo nvidia-xconfig
appears:

"Using X configuration file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".
Backed up file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' as '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'
New X configuration file written to '/etc/X11/xorg.con"

then I try to restart the X server with: ctrl+alt+backspace
then I try, once again, : Preferences>Other> NVIDIA X SERVER SETTINGS, and it keeps showing:

"You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run nvidia-xconfig as root), and restart the X server."

what can I do?

Help pls,

Thanks in advance,

evidals
