Official Ubuntu MATE artwork and logos

If you’re thinking of creating some Ubuntu MATE artwork then to following images might be of use.

Ubuntu MATE Logos

The following Bazaar repository contains all the Ubuntu MATE logos.

Yuyo Theme

Yuyo will be the default theme for Ubuntu MATE starting from the 15.04 release. If you want to contribute to Yuyo development then you can find it hosted on GitHub.

Please feel free to submit pull requests that address any of the outstanding issues.

I know this is dumb question Martin, but how do I get hold of the logos and other artwork off that repository?

Which repository are you referring to?

I suspect you want the pack that has the rondels and logos in it. The easiest way is to install bzr and then run the following command:

bzr branch lp:~ubuntu-mate-dev/ubuntu-mate/artwork

That’ll pull everything down to a local directory.

Edit: Alternatively, you can go here : http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mate-dev/ubuntu-mate/artwork/files and click on a file, then click download file… if you want just one thing.

I’m trying to set up a SSH key for Launchpad and I got this:

johnblood@johnblood-HP-Compaq-nx6325-RM158UT-ABA:~$ sudo ssh-keygen -t rsa
Generating public/private rsa key pair.
Enter file in which to save the key (/root/.ssh/id_rsa):
Created directory '/root/.ssh'.
Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase):
Enter same passphrase again:
key_save_private: passphrase is too short (minimum four characters)
Saving the key failed: /root/.ssh/id_rsa.

Any idea what is wrong?

Nevermind, I figured it out. It did not like my original passcode.

What is the font used in the logo?

Ubuntu

The “mate” part doesn’t seem to be the same. At least none of the ubuntu fonts I have.

I think it’s the Bold or Ultra-Bold flavour of Source Sans Pro, based on a look at the SVG code of some of the logos and trying the font out interactively.

In passing, Typecatcher is a little-known but brilliant way of trying out Google fonts using a Linux native application …

Am I right in thinking that Ambiance MATE is the new default these days because of Yuyo’s lack of support for various Gtk features?

Header bars, the new fade thing at the top and bottom of scrollable content (does anyone know what that’s called?) etc.

And, are there currently plans to update Yuyo with that support? I only asked because it was a cracker of a theme, and it isn’t being used.

Kind regards,
Nathan Russell

Yeah, it’s not being maintained. If you like Yuyo, then hopefully we have something lined up for 16.04 that you’ll like

I saw your post on google+ about Numix…

They wouldn’t be involved with some sort of custom Ubuntu MATE window theme? Long shot, I know, but that’d generate quite a buzz.
