Panel icon size issue

Using 17.10. Very impressed. Just one issue. When using the Default panel layout, when I increase the font size to my desired 13pt, the icons in the panel scale up accordingly, making them look too big & ugly. This doesn’t happen with the other panels, just the default one, which I think is the “traditional” one.
Any way I can stop this happening?

Hi @Speartip, I’d like to hear from a developer on this. I was seeing Application Font only affecting text but not icons but I’m always set to theme TraditionalOK. When I set to theme Ambiant-MATE (I think that’s also default) some icons like network and speaker inside the notification area do scale but others like Firefox and Welcome do not.

So I tried setting theme Ambiant-MATE but customizing to the MATE icons TraditionalOK uses. Gee… the same icons DO NOT appear in the notification area and they scale anyway. Sheesh. You might try your own experimenting.

Bottom line, there’s also a theme component and I’m sure the GTK3 stuff is involved how these have been tweaked. I’m of the personal opinion GTK3 is like trying to use something only 1/2 done. :rage:

Hi Bill. Thanks for your reply.
My best workaround at the moment is to use the “Contemporary” panel, which would be ok, but I like the main panel at the bottom of the screen, & using any panel but “traditional” also puts the application tool bar at the bottom as well, which just looks weird.
I’ll keep experimenting & see if I can find a way around this.
