Do you feel that I contribute here?
Hi, @fixit7
Speaking only for myself: yes, I do feel that you contribute here in the "Ubuntu MATE Community". I consider your questions to be interesting and useful to
other users.
The only thing that comes to my mind is that, sometimes, you forget to include some details in your questions that may be important for others to help you (such as what Ubuntu MATE version are you using and/or clarifying what you're trying to do/achieve and how are you trying to do it).
I hope this helps
Thanks.
Both my parents passed away from Alzheimer s.
I am 69 years old. I have some memory problems.
I will try harder to give more details.
I have an appointment with a Neurologist in January 2025.
He will check on my memory and my cognitive abilities,
I volunteer at an animal shelter and a Food Bank.
That helps.
Everyone contributes in their own way. Just asking the question is contributing as there are those that won't. It also gives people the answer for questions that might later come up. Like your question on VLC. It got likes so others have had that question too and maybe not found the answer.
I am 68 myself and all to familiar with dementia in my family and my wife's family. I also worked forty years of rotating shifts which is hard on your cognitive abilities. But participating in things like this forum have been found to help. Keep using your brain to keep it sharp. Keep participating in the forum as long as you can.
Absolutely!
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers!
That said, everybody learns in their own way, by their own methods.
Sometimes, Manuals and Documentation and Wikis just don't get the message across in a way that individuals can absorb the material and understand it. Seeking advice from "peers" and "mentors" is the alternate, and usually best, way to get pointed, pertinent guidance. That's why forums like these will never disappear!
I will not mention the site, but someone would edit out my smilie faces
To me that is sad.
