MATE Menu, forked from mintMenu, can install and remove packages. Do you use this feature?
I didn’t know it could do this, I just use the terminal, gdebi and synaptic and, on occassion, software manager.
MATE Menu as a package manager? I might well use it as one but I have no idea how to go about it.
Based on the feedback (here and on G+), I’ve stripped out the package manager features from MATE Menu. They will be gone in the next release.
Why did I do this? It makes MATE Menu more portable to other distros, improves the responsiveness and removes a feature that I really didn’t think need to be in an Application Menu/Launcher.
