Possible to use ALS via iio-sensor-proxy to control backlight in Mint Mate?

Hi,

I have a little bit old Samsung XE700, but it works awesomly well with Linux Mint 18 Mate. Now I did some research on how to get the last amount of perfection out of it, and learned about backlight, acpi_als and iio-sensor-proxy.

All these components are working well!
But they don’t seem to be interconnected. Does Mate support adjusting the backlight brightness upon input from als sensor somehow?

If not, did s. o. made a script?

Thanx

Hi @7even,

this is for Arch but does it help?:

Hi @wolfman,

this wiki helped a lot in the past with previous Linux versions, where fewer features worked out of the box. The great thing is, that meanwhile everything all hardware features are supported on a clean install already!
But the automated setting of the backlight, depending on input by the light sensor is not described there (=usage of these features in concert) - I suppose this is a task for the display manager; I found hints for supporting this with Gnome 3, but not with Mate.
