When I try printing from Kolourpaint the only option I get is "print to file", I cannot select a printer. Printing from Libreoffice apps is fine, this problem started fairly recently. I can't see how to convince Kolourpaint that there is a printer... Any help gratefully received.
Hi, @MarkH and welcome to the Ubuntu MATE Community!
I found this, not sure if it will help.
Blockquote
Kolourpaint, KDE's drawing program, may experience issues with printers, particularly network printers, where they are not listed in the print dialog. This is a known bug reported in the KDE bug tracker. While the printer is recognized and functional within system settings and other non-KDE applications, it might be missing from Kolourpaint's print menu.
Here's a more detailed explanation of the issue:
- Network Printer Visibility:
A network printer, though available and functional in system settings and other applications, might not appear in Kolourpaint's print dialog.
- KDE-Specific Issue:
This problem is likely related to how KDE applications handle printer discovery and integration.
- Workaround:
Users can print from Kolourpaint by utilizing non-KDE applications or exploring alternative printing methods, such as direct printing from the command line.
- Bug Report:
The bug is tracked in the KDE bug tracker with a specific bug number (455798).
So maybe try exporting the document to another app and print from there?
Thanks for that, at least it's not me missing something!
