Hi -

I have spent a day trying different versions the printer configs to no avail

I have included all the info I can think of that may lead to a suggested solution … Please request any additional that may help.

I appears like the software is all working but then no output…

Thanks, Richard.

Hi @Richard_Ames,

does this help you at all?, its a start at least!:

#3

Look like a good lead … will compile from source and see how I go…

Thanks, Richard.

#4

I compiled … two warnings but no errors.

Executed the script — which appears to do the install (there is no install in the makefile).

Everything seems right… but no output from the printer! Requesting a test print shows as completed with no errors in the cups error file (and none visible with debug on)…

Will give it a rest… but open for troubleshooting ideas.

Richard.

#5

Hi Richard,

have you checked that the printer cartridge heads are clean?, can you test the print quality under Windblows?.

#6

I routinely print to this printer from my laptop running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS… on the same network, with as far as I can tell the same setup.

#7

I don’t know if Raspi can use Synaptic but if it can, install it and then type “brother” in search and install all the packages you find for Brother printers!.

#8

I loaded Synaptic a few days ago and checked that - all the brother
packages were already there.

Just now; I checked again and noted they were xxxx.i386 packages. I
thought that was probably not right — so unloaded them. Reinstalled the
brother driver from source and the ppd file provided with the source…
looks like the same problem… no errors, no printing. Have not checked
in the error log yet …

Will try some more tomorrow. Thanks, Richard.
