Problem after update to 24.04.1

I have just updated my Pi 4b to 24.04.1. Now I cannot open the software boutique and get the following error when I try it from the command line.

ubuntu-mate-welcome --boutique
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/snap/ubuntu-mate-welcome/727/usr/bin/ubuntu-mate-welcome", line 30, in <module>
    gi.require_version("WebKit2", "4.0")
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/gi/__init__.py", line 125, in require_version
    raise ValueError('Namespace %s not available for version %s' %
ValueError: Namespace WebKit2 not available for version 4.0

can anyone advise on how to fix this please. Looking at ask Ubuntu it looks like the X64 version for Mate also had this problem so I would expect that there would be a fix or work arounb by now.

During the update the Thunderbird update could not find the snap so I installed it from the command line later. Do not think this is relevant but I add it just in case.

The Software Boutique is no longer available beginning with 24.04.

It's too bad as it would help newcomers find relevant software easier.
