Dear All! First of all, I'm an interessted layman and I hope, that my question is not too stupid :)! I'm unable to join a Ubuntu Mate 18.04.2 LTS machine as a backup domain controller into a samba based AD. If I try to join the AD using samba-tool domain join my-domain.lan DC -U"administrator" the provisioning process starts normal. But during the provisioning it breaks up. The output is ERROR(runtime): uncaught exception - (8460-"Failed to process 'chunk' of DRS replicated objects: WERR_DS_DRA_MISSING_PARENT"). I already have investigated the web. The only solution that my maybe fit to my problem was to do samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs on the DC1. What I have found out is that this does find a problem and the output says that the problem would have been corrected. If I try to provision the DC2 again, the basic problem occur again. I I do then a samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs on DC1 furthermore it finds again 2 problems. Maybe somebody has a hint for me what I can try. Thank you so much in advance :)! PS: Maybe it'll be a solution to upgrade samba to a newer current version. Is that possible?
Hello!
Never did use Samba as DC by myself, but your guess was what every support service would tell. I.e. upgrading to the last version or, at least, having same versions of Samba seems to be a must.
