Problems with installing Ubuntu Mate 16.04 beta2 - help please!

Hello !

I am having problems installing beta 2 on my PC. After selecting ‘install ubuntu mate’ I get to the screen where you can choose to download extras in during the install. This is as far as my installation gets (regardless of if I choose to have the extras download or not). I have tried to install 16.04 beta2 from two different thumbdrives and still no joy. Any suggestions ?

Help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Which stage of the installer specifically can you not proceed? What happens at this point?

e.g. Does it silently quit? All options go gray and a busy cursor appears indefinitely?

Thanks for responding

So I solved the problem by trial and error. The problem was caused by an external SSD plugged into the computer. When I disconnected the ext SSD everything went smoothly. Should I report this as a bug somewhere ?

[edit] just for the record; the busy cursor was just stuck on the screen for more than an hr with the ext ssd plugged in.

Now I have a new problem - how do I fix: “W: Target Translations (universe/i18n/Translation-en) is configured multiple times in /etc/apt/sources.list:3 and /etc/apt/sources.list:53” ?
It appears when I try sudo apt-get upgrade

Thanks !

I suspected it would have been a partitioning issue that caused the hold up. There may be a problematic partition that Ubiquity (the installer) failed to identify on that external SSD, either because of a bug or other factors.

You could report it to Launchpad, but it may be one of those hard to reproduce depending on hardware.

I'm not sure how to fix the translations issue, but being a beta build, translations should be addressed before final release.

Thanks for all the help - much appreciated!
