Hey Wimpy,
Can you please include a Programming editor in the next version of Ubuntu Mate? Something like Light table or sublime text?
Hey Wimpy,

The OS includes a basic text editor already. If you’re a programmer (or learning) and find that pluma is not enough, then it’s a trivial operation to install your own particular favourite editor.
I’m all for keeping UM lightweight, just the essentials…If you want more, then just install it - sublime text (my own personal fave) is even available in the ubuntu software centre these days.
I really don’t think it would be a good idea to include sublime, as it’s proprietary and a bit pricey too.
I agree with mickey_megabyte. Not to forget that not all Ubuntu MATE users will be programmers.
I agree as well. Pluma does more than enough for the default editor. I like and use Sublime Text, but it’s closed-source, paid software, so can’t be included. Geany is another good option, but it’s easy to install if you want it.
I agree with the given replies, pluma is enough. But it also means that we don’t need Tilda in default configuration because we already have mate-terminal, we don’t need Plank because we have a mate-panel, and maybe color-folders because we have, uhm, system color. I think they all are overhead too.
