That's exactly what happened. Depending on which beta version you started with there was a change in the mouse\touchpad driver which had a bug that was fixed in subsequent updates because it got reported here and the developers were able to request the sources be synced with the fix.
Just goes to show how important people getting involved with betas and testing really is!
Iâm going to test the daily builds and will give a feedback in some Hours ! http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-mate/daily-live/
I will also install ALL apps from Software boutique and check if there is any issue
So here are all Bugs i found Installing everything on Software Boutique
â Installed all Packages/Softwares
Found a new bug : Sometimes When installing an app , WHILE the brisk menu is open . Brisk Menu Crashes
Ubuntu Mate 18.04 Daily Build April 12

6 - Error Package insync isnât available
7 - Package wavebox isnât available

In the Software Boutique, if you press any of the âDetailsâ button and then âScreenshotâ and instaed of closing the screenshot window you click in the Boutique window (by accident or because you think this will close the preview) the preview window remains open and goes below the boutique window. In that condition, you can navegate the boutique but the buttons (Details and Install) donât respond. This can be disconcerting until you realize the other window is open and close it or you close the boutique and retry.
Well Iâve been installing everything in terminal, so I didnât know. Iâll have to grab a DEB file and report back because the last one I tried to install (a day or two ago) still disappeared without offering me to input the password to authorize installation.
EDIT: Curiously I still seem to have part of an issue. If I download the DEB in my browser and double click the DEB, GDebi will open it and allow me to hit the install button but will not bring up the superuser password dialog. If I go to where the DEB file is and open it from Caja, everything goes as expected. At this point all I can do is speculate that this is something happening with Pale Moon. I will seek out another DEB and try to install from Firefox for comparison purposes.
UPDATE: No this is still happening for me with Firefox too. The application simply does not bring up the superuser box to allow authorization for an install.
I can report Gdebi seems fixed. I reinstalled yacreader and itâs libunarr dependency today, and they both went off swimmingly. My bare metal install is yesterdayâs build (April 17th)
I experienced the same trouble installing Spotify from the Boutique as Gabdub, but it installed just fine from the Gnome Software repository (the one that looks like a white and blue shopping bag) I have had trouble with Opera in the past as well, but it installed just fine from the Boutique.
Great feedback, thanks. Should all be resolved in the new release of Welcome. subsurface is not available for Bionic yet and dia has been dropped.
The package names for dia have changed, it can still be installed on Bionic. That said there is some artifacts in UI so I removed it from the listing on Bionic on the ground it is no longer of sufficient quality to be featured.
edit : No issues with Applets now !!
great job !!
And is the âSelect Layoutâ option removed in the âwelcome snapâ ?
anyways good job
iâll give more feedback
My understanding has always been that the goal is for the latter, a curated collection, not everything. So just like a clothing store may carry everything, a clothing boutique only has a limited selection of the best items. You can always install Ubuntu Software if you want a full software center.
@Bernie - the software boutique is actually manually curated for every release, so it would be impractical to have more than just a showcase of software that is known to work well.
I think there may be a plan to move the software list to an online service so that the list can be updated without requiring a new version of the boutique, but it would still be curated manually. I remember hearing this somewhere at some point, but not entirely sure, so take it with a grain of salt
@vkarehâs right about Software Boutique, so take his words with a few bags of salt
It is planned for the next generation of Software Boutique (2.0) to become a fully featured software centre, but itâs quite an objective and is taking a bit of time since it requires the application to be re-written from the ground up. Also factor that itâs developed in our free time which can be limited and occupied with other things.
