Proxy configuration in apt.conf is not updated after changes

Hi all,

First of all, thank you to all the developers working in this project. After trying several desktops, I find MATE to be the best.

I have installed Ubuntu Mate 16.04 in a laptop that sometimes is connected at the office behind a proxy or at home without it. I originally setup the installation at the office and changed the proxy configuration using the “Network Proxy Preferences”. When connecting from home, I change again from “Manual proxy configuration” to “Direct Internet connection” but this change is not applied to the apt.conf file in the /etc/apt folder
This makes sense because there is no request of the sudo password to change that file but i think this option should be available.
Am I doing anything wrong? Is there any possibility to change the proxy settings including the aforementioned file?

Thanks for your help,

Hector

I have same problem. I just manually rename apt.conf to apt.bak at home and do the reverse at work.
And I use “Proxy Switcher” in Firefox with different configurations for home/work.
