I had qBittorrent in 20.04, it ran flawlessly. I did a fresh install of 24.04 and installed qBittorrent using the App center. While I am able to use the client, I do get frequent crashes. I am going to delete this installation and install using a ppa. I will report back. I am curious if anyone else had issues with qBittorrent installed via the App center?
Do not use the app store to install qBittorrent. Use the ppa. What a difference. No more crashes and a newer version.
Apparently it's an unofficial snap, and says "no longer maintained" on their GitHub page.
The "Report this snap" link isn't working here, I wanted to see if there is an option for 'outdated/broken' so it could be considered for removal. It makes me uneasy thinking that someone else in the wild might form a negative impression of Linux/Ubuntu with it being too easy to grab this abandoned/insecure/crashy version from that App Center.
Hi
Mine is the same, does installing the new version keep the ratio's and settings?
The configuration for the snap version will be inside the snap
folder in your home directory. Inside for the qBittorrent
snap, there should be a hidden folder (CTRL+H) like .config
or .local/share
which stores that data. Copy them to your real home folder.
Beware, as soon as the snap is uninstalled, I think it will also delete the configuration from the snap folder.
Hi
I installed qBittorrent using Synaptic but its old and have the crashing problem.
This script on Github backs up and restores settings, I uploaded it to ChatGPT just to be on the safe side.
Backed up before uninstalling the old one, installed new one, restored.
Bingo!
