Re thinking the Minecraft Server

Hey Guys/Gals,

I have been looking through the logs for the Minecraft Server and it doesn’t look like it’s getting much use. I was wondering if we would get more players if we went with the OpenSource alternative Mintest or maybe there is a different game altogether? Just curious.

I've heard of Minetest, I haven't tried it in a long time to see its progress and how it compares to the almighty Minecraft.

I guess both Minecrafters and newcomers to the block world in general may be interested, since it's free, easy to install and promotes open source gaming. Could be worth a test run for a week. :triangular_flag_on_post:

Just from observations of past Vanilla servers (like the current one)... it tends to lose it's appeal and interest over time, unless there's exciting objectives and an active player base... which we're lacking. Other commitments and lack of interest in Minecraft in general is why I'm not determined to pay a visit :frowning: (Sorry!), that maybe true for others too.

Server plug-ins or mods may rejuvenate players by spicing up the experience. Perhaps the white-list is holding back for the server's growth too since it prevents anyone who wishes to play in the wider community. Vanilla's no good if one of the visitors intentionally destroyed the place though... Either way, backups are a must! :computer:
