Recomended GUI burning tool for 16.04 .iso šŸ’æ?

Since :cd: Mate 16.04 ISO is released. I would like to know a user friendly gui tool for burning the iso. Since I am recommending the distro to Windows  users, it might be very helpful if it also ran on windows .

Anyways Thanx for the excellent distro once again.

Both for windows - Rufus or LinuxLive USB Creator. I have found them to be the most reliable.

For Linux I have used Rosa Image Writer

On that noteā€¦

Itā€™s not a suggestion for @AditUltra of course because he needs a Windows-compatible tool, butā€¦

I hear the Startup Disk Creator received some love in preparation of the 16.04 release! :D

Now, I donā€™t know how much love but I just did a quick test and it managed to burn a Xenial .iso without pathetically crashing on the ā€œInstalling the bootloaderā€ step.

I canā€™t even remember the last time since Iā€™ve seen that happen so Yay! \o/

I use Unetbootin in Linux, there is a Windows version though Iā€™ve never used it and couldnā€™t say how good it is

Well, first of all. Do you want to burn a cd/dvd? Or do you want to use a thumbdrive?

Windows
To burn an ISO to cd/dvd you could take a look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

To create a bootable USB on windows take a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

Linux
If you want to burn an ISO you could use brasero or K3b.

Gnome disk utility or Etcher are great tools to creaet a bootable USB.

I tried it yeterday and while it did the job and is very easy to use, it messed up the drive. The thumb is 8GB but it managed to make it look like 32GB (!!). It probably formatted the blocks to 2048 but they should be 512 or something similar had happened. The drive is still usefull after creating a partition table (or as thumb drive for installing the OS only)

Did you report this to the devs via https://github.com/resin-io/etcher ?

I will to recreate the issue as Iā€™m using the drive with multisystem now.
