Reliability of MATE 15.10

So, although being rather new to the Unix OS, I have been through many Linux derivatives, such as MATE, Mint, Zorin etc. and I can say that I really appreciate MATE 15.10’s swiftness, smoothness and reliability… I don’t know why other distros (including MATE 16.04) have their issues, it may be coming down to kernels, bugs etc, but I can say for certain that 15.10 has proved itself, It is only a shame it isn’t supported any longer, really a streamlined OS, with lightning fast boot times, no Radeon issues and the like… way to go, MATE!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Tis’ a pity 15.10 is going to dusk, especially as AMD users (using proprietary drivers) can’t use it on 16.04 until AMD get their new driver out. :frowning:

I found 15.04 to be the most reliable on my system. 15.10 introduced some networking issues, and 16.04 dropped a bunch of packages I needed.

16.10 is going to be a playground… I think I might hold off upgrading the next release. :scream:

A lot of problems I’ve seen appear to be inherited from other flavours and mainstream Ubuntu too.

Yea, perhaps (I’m saying this in a hushing voice) the devs should drop the regularity of release - in my opinion, just for the sake of releasing and concentrate on the reliable stuff, make it better. As for 15.10’s compatibility, I am using a Lenovo G50 and have yet to encounter one. It is true though that I haven’t used 15.04 (15.10 was already out when I switched to Linux) but 15.10 has proved itself for me.

AMD announced their AMD Pro drivers for Ubuntu 16.04 earlier in the week

Good news I hear. Hope they’ll fix ALL the problems/bugs in the OS
