Remove mate-font-viewer

Hi everyone,

I feel mate-font-viewer a little bit slow, so I installed gnome-font-viewer, it works well, but I do not like to have unused apps in my system, any idea on how I can remove mate-font-viewer.

Thanks and sorry if it is a question discouraging the use of MATE apps.

Try sudo apt purge mate-font-viewer. If it tries to remove several important packages that means it cannot be removed (the package is needed by the system).

Already done that, but the package does not exists.

If it says "mate-font-viewer is not installed, so not removed" then it's a system package you cannot remove

Just stick to GNOME and set that as the default

Is that true? Apt will report a 'system package' (whatever that means) as not installed, even when it is? I am dubious.

According to man mate-font-viewer, it belongs to package mate-control-center. I doubt that this package can be removed safely.
