I have completely removed snap from my 22.04 install. I notice that on Mate Software Boutique and ubuntu-mate-welcome are installed via snap by default. It is the case that by removing snap completely these two apps will not be there/function or is there a more fundamental issue removing snap from Mate?
You can install synaptic for your software installation and removal if you remove software boutique. It actually has more functions. If you want welcome you need to keep snaps, but if you are a long time Ubuntu Mate user, welcome is not that important.
