My baseline RAM is 8 GB DDR3, it´s pretty old and i want to upgrade it. Is 16 GB DDR3L a good Choice or Overkill for Browsing / Light Gaming and System stability?

I chosen DDR3L because it has less power consumption so, less heat equals longer Lifespan and a longer lasting Battery i assume.

Check the speed of the DDR3L RAM. Since your computer can run DDR3, it should have no problem with DDR3L as long as the RAM speeds match.
