You can search "Display" in the menu to arrive here :
Next you can choose a better resolution there.
But, in a VMware machine, how expand to real monitor resolution?
For a VM / hypervisor integration you need to install this vmware tools from vmware : https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1022525
It will help your linux setup deal with the hypervisor settings like your console screen window and asjust it automaticly. It will also bring you copy paste between the VM and your desktop and so on.
The KB looks large and wide but i have done it many times and its matter of running the script and next answer yes yes yes.
