Rhythmbox: How to install third party plugins

I am trying to install a small third-party plugin for Rhythmbox to really close when you click the close button (https://github.com/fossfreedom/close-on-hide). Problem is I don't know how to install the plugin, I know I can add the author's PPA and then use apt-get install to install the plugin, but I'd like to know if there's a way of doing it, downloading the files from the git repo and installing them manually.

You can just put the plugin in this folder: ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/plugins and relaunch rhythmbox then and it will be availble in the plugins list.
