I've tried 20.10 and 20.04.2 on an RPI 3 Model B 1GB machine and the memory pressures are so great the Mate desktop is basically unusable. I ran a top and saw roughly 10-20Mb free RAM at all times. Has anyone been able to create a workable Mate desktop environment on the RPI 3 Model B 1GB?
I've been trying for a while. I've found installation poses problems if you use anything less than 16GB Sd card.
I 've hung onto my UbMate 18.04 which is the last which gave reasonable performance on Pi 3B or 3B+ - unfortunately it is now not being updated.
