Scam app in app centre

New mate user of 2 weeks I was unable to open appimages specifically for ledger crypto wallet so I looked in app Centre and found an app labelled ledger downloaded it and got scammed after I tried to use it I don’t know where to post this so am starting here How did it get there?? I have looked again and I don’t see the app I downloaded but there is another called ledger-wallets-udev I am going to do a new install ( probably not Mate) as I dont feel good about this install. The App centre flashes and jitters and since this happened I found appimage launcher which should be default It took me a week of searching to find it

The Ubuntu MATE app centre is basically the Snap Store (at least from 24.04 onwards). There have been scams in that store in the past. An example being an "Exodus" crypto app that was a scam.

Both Exodus and Ledger suggest that you download the app from their website - rather than use things like snap store, flathub, etc. It is obviously best to follow their instructions for installing a crypto wallet.

As I've said before: In my personal opinion: Cryptocurrency is frequently a scam target, weakly regulated in most jurisdictions, and its value is frequently manipulated by hostile actors - it's not a safe thing to hold even in the best of financial positions.

You can report a scam app on the Contact Us at the bottom of the snap store website: Install Snap Store on Linux | Snap Store

I believe the app has already been removed.
