Scanner not working after updating to UMate 22.04 LTS

Upgraded my Dell Inspiron 2350 from UM20.04 TLS to UM22.04 LTS the other day. Very, very pleased with the update, the pc looks nice and works beautifully.
But today I found out that the scanner in my Epson L3150 does not work at all. I have tried both the Document Scanner and the Epson SCAN2. It takes a very long time for the scanner to be found, most of the times it is not, sometimes it is, but the result is always the same: after an equally long time, I get a "unable to connect - or to communicate - with the scanner" message.
My Epson L3150 is cable-connected to pc, I've had no problems whatsoever with printing.
Please help.

Hello lostados

You could check if some of the basics are correctly set on your computer.
Open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T):

at the prompt write:
groups

press return, you should see something like
'your-user-account (other accounts) scanner'

now write at the prompt:
cat /etc/group

press return, amid the long list of entries you should see something like
'scanner:?:???:saned:your-user-account'

Question
Does your system give similar answers to those expected?

Try to open scanimage as root user.
try Sane-find-scanner and id dmesg shows something interesting.

Not really. Here is what I get:

Thank you very much for your reply.

Well, the good news is that the scanner now works! I think it is slower than before, with the 20.04 LTS, but it does work. Perfectly.

No reason to worry about.

Congrats on upgrading your Dell Inspiron to UM22.04 LTS, that's awesome! Sorry to hear about the scanner issue, though. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the Epson L3150 scanner? It's possible that the upgrade to UM22.04 LTS might have caused a conflict with the previous drivers, so reinstalling them might do the trick. You could also try checking the scanner settings on your computer to make sure everything is configured properly. If none of those solutions work, you might need to contact Epson support for further assistance. There are also 3rd party scanning apps like Smart Engines OCR that might help you configure the scanner correctly.
