I assume you did not forget sudo update-grub afterwards.

You might try some other kerneloption trickery then.

Both my old laptop and my mediacenter had this problem. The source of the problem on my systems is the new and improved Intel driver that makes use of the IOMMU (which is rather a tricky thing to do by the way). On my 22.04 installs I removed the HWE packages so I reverted automatically to an older kernel and this solved the issue.
