Hi, I'm using my Lenovo Y520 laptop and recently I switched to Ubuntu MATE 20.04, but I have one annoying issue, every time when I start my system and try to log in via LightDM desktop environment starts and then screens turn off, solution for this is just closing the lid of my laptop and putting it into suspend and then turn it back, but like I said this is very annoying, does anyone have a simmilar issue or maybe know the solution to that behavior?
I've had a similar problem. One of the past updates caused my desktop to not load properly on bootup.
After logging in.... The screen would blank and display nothing.
My solution was to hit CTRL+ALT+F1 to go to a terminal and then CTRL+ALT+F7 to go back to the desktop. Everything worked fine after this.
I don't plan to try to find a permanent fix for this. As soon as I have my new server setup and running, I am switching to Linux Mint Debian Edition v4 for my desktop needs.

I got similar issue : need to close the lid because of the black screen at login screen on a lenovo miix 320.
The final solution for me was to upgrade the kernel to latest releases 5.7.0.
