Some notes: Originally, the machine had a 4 GB RAM; I upgraded it five years ago. I also upgraded the hard drive. But everything else is still as it was when I bought the thing 11 or 12 years ago. It doesn’t have a brand name, because a small independent computer store put it together themselves. Oh, and the used space on disk data is very wrong, probably because a fairly large partition which is mostly full isn’t mounted right now.

Due to a bad motherboard on my System 76 I had to buy a new laptop. I went with a refurbished HP ProBook 650 G3 Business Laptop, 15.6" FHD(1920x1080), Intel Core i7-7600U 2.5GHz, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, CAM for $225 and another $47 for a two year warranty. The thing is like brand new and after getting burned on my System 76 which after 5 years System 76 figured out it came with a bad mother board. It also had a bad first battery and WIFI card. I have had problems with freezes and crashes since day one. After the last crash I can boot in to Ubuntu Mate 24.04, but not into a USB drive or the hard drive. So the next crash, which will happen and it is a brick. I figured a little less than $300 and a two year extended warranty for $47 was better than $1300 with a one year warranty. I had always bought use HP laptops before the Darter Pro and always had great luck with them.
Here are the specs on my new (refurbished) Laptop.
