Show battery icon on panel when I use alternate current

ubuntu17.10, If I use alternate current instead of battery why show a battery icon on the panel.

I think it’s actually part of the tray applet. Sort of an all inclusive deal.

Have you tried clicking on Power Management and check to see if Always display an icon is checked?

As you can see, I have the option to only show icon when a battery is present.

@SantaFe that will actually add a second battery indicator. I tried that myself.

In 17.10, the battery icons (and the other default ones, but not the clock) are indicators, not old-school tray-icons, except in the “Traditional” layout. There are some gsettings options for the power indicator. You’ll need to install dconf-editor and then navigate to com / canonical / indicators / power and then open icon-policy

@TimApple I’m guessing that power control still only affects the tray icon and hasn’t been updated to “talk indicator” so to speak.

I choose 'only display an icon when a battery is present'
but when I use alternate current, the battery icon show on the panel.
