sometimes when I call for a reboot or shut down it takes the 1 minute to take effect
like I said sometimes, few times if I call a reboot it will do it right away or even turn off
I think this kind of a bug and it happened to me in every set up I do.
Just re-install today a fresh copy of 15.04 from the daily builds and it does it too.
guys i really need your help here, this is making me a bit angry
shutdown or reboot takes 60 seconds no matter what, even if i use the terminal sudo shutdown now
i know there is a .conf file some where where we can change this 60 seconds entry
please, help me out here, thank you in adavance
by the way i am using ubuntu-mate vivid 15.04 beta2
I just downloaded the final and it shuts down no problem, rather than fiddle about trying to get the Beta to work, do a fresh install with the final!.
I did clean installs on 2 PC’s and it runs like a rocket!.
Are you running the Insync client?
The reason I ask, is the only time I have had an issue with shutdown hanging for a minute, was when Insync was running.
Perhaps you have some other application running that could be slow to shut down?
to wolfman and electragician
this is a fresh just installed latest daily build it always does it in my computer no matter what
i do not use Insync client
again it is always a fresh install i do not monkey around with installations it is a problem that i have with my pc i guess but no other distro does it and that includes ubuntu-unity 15.04 just released this morning or linux mint-mate or bella os or any other distro, they all work fine but ubuntu-mate,it is the only one that takes the 60 second shutdown and it is not always, sometimes,if i used the power button sometimes it works right away or takes it’s 60 seconds or even the terminal, that is why i want to get to the .conf file to change that to 1 second
thank you guys.
I can't find anything other than this (a bit old btw!), I hope it gives you an idea or two:
I have the same problem as Kuvanito does… this slowly way of shut down takes longer than 60 seconds, sometimes 90 indeed…I have no idea how I can help solving this issue…i also read superuser shell script but it didnt help…Please any suggestions would do… BTW, my wife is using UM 15.04 in her HP 240 and said she has noticed this same issue since 2 weeks ago as well. My lenovo T400 had never had a similar issue when shutting down while I was using other Ubuntu or Linux Mint distributions before…Please help
Next time, if you are looking at the spash screen waiting for the system to shutdown, press ESC to show the system messages and you should see what is causing the delay.
This happens to me also: starting only a few weeks ago with Ubuntu MATE 15.04, this system started taking exactly 1 min 30 sec to shutdown on many shutdowns (maybe half the time). Prior to that there was no problem.
The system message I always get is:
“A stop job is running for session c2 of user spyder (n sec/1 min 30 sec)”
The part in parentheses is a running countdown to shutdown, with n being the counter.
What “stop job” this might be is not mentioned. Googling finds more cases of this, and it is not a Ubuntu MATE problem, but apparently a systemd problem. No solution is offered related to this message that I can find. There are also bug reports.
I have now returned to Ubuntu MATE 14.04 on another partition and use that with no problems. Planning to replace the 15.04 with 15.10 to see if the this resolves.
it has been a while now I left my beloved ubuntu-mate and went to linux-lite but I am glad to see that I wasn’t the only one having this problem,by the way xfce has never given me any of this problems
It is possible to switch back to upstart as a work-a-round.
