[SOLVED] Cannot disable keyboard shortcut

Hi all … I am trying to disable the ‘Search’ key on my Chromebook from opening the Menu. I went to Control Center->Keyboard Shortcuts and set Search to Disabled but it persists in opening the Menu.

How can I disable this key shortcut? I want to remap the key as a Backspace key (using xmodmap). Thanks for any help!

Not “solved” but no longer an issue for me … After switching away from the default Familiar desktop layout to my new preferred Netbook layout the key was properly disabled.

Spoke too soon … Search key - despite being disabled in Keyboard Shortcuts - has regressed back to popping open the menu again. Arrgh.

How can I disable this key shortcut so I can remap the key to Backspace?

Hmm … Turns out the Search key is triggering the Brisk Menu in the Netbook desktop layout. I ended up replacing that menu with the standard MATE Menu and now Search key shortcut stays properly disabled and I successfully remapped the key to act as Backspace. Marking this as Solved.

One minute too late  , but this should do it:

gsettings set com.solus-project.brisk-menu hot-key ''
