[SOLVED] No Left Channel Sound!

Hi, I am new to this stuff, and i have just installed Mate onto a Toshiba Satellite L850 PSKG6A -00P00H. Everything seems to be working fine, however, I am not getting any sound at all through my left internal speaker. The Audio Device is listed as a Intel PantherPoint HDMI… I am lost and need some ideas on how to fix this!!

Cheers!

Check your Sound Preferences (under the Control Centre) and under the Output tab for your device, check the balance is centred and not all the way to the right.

If that doesn’t work, install PulseAudio Volume control:

$ sudo apt-get install pavucontrol

Open it up and see what your levels are doing in the Output Device tab.

If that doesn’t work, use alsamixer to manually tweak your levels. Here’s some reading on how to use alsamixer

If none of that solves your problem, you’ll have to start digging deeper into your config files so try the above first and report back.

Thank You so Much! I had already installed Pulse Audio, but after removing then re-installing follwed by a reboot it was all good…For some reason the left channel was turned off as a default setting?!? But All is good now and I can resume editing my Podcast after Windows finally did me in for the last time!

Cheers Again!
