[Solved]Video Problem when watching YouTube

Hello everyone! Ever since MATE went to LTS or out of Beta, YouTube video seem not the same. When ever the camera pans left or right you see a wavy line at top or middle of video. It’s like the video is sliced up in sections. I have a ATI Radeon 5750. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Thank you!

are you using a compositor?

Compositor? not sure, What is it? sorry new to linux.

No worries. A compositor is a piece of software that uses your GPU to handle your desktop in a way that gets rid of screen tearing issues.

Go to the main menu. Chose "system/preferences/look and feel/Mate Tweak. One opened, choose the "windows" option from the left hand side tabs:

Choose "Marco (Compton GPU Compositor)" from the "Window Manager" list. You will notice I use "Marco with no compositor". Don't worry about that, I use Compton but in a very specialised way you don't need to know about. You just need to choose the option I have indicated.

When you've done that, confirm you want to keep it if you are asked, Then close "Mate Tweak" down. Now go back to YouTube, you should find the video tearing is fixed.

If not, come back on here and let me know.
