Some Plank icons disappear after updating

This might be a bug for the Plank dock but thought I'd post here anyway. When I install updates, some of my icons in Plank will disappear and I just see a placeholder icon. But a reboot has always fixed it. The usual suspects are Discord, Thunderbird, and my browsers. The common theme between those apps could maybe be they are all snaps or some other containerized app?

Are you by any chance using any type of a theme for dock apps that changes the look of the icons ?
Is it only happening when you update your apps or does it happen when you open/close them - any other way it happens ?

Are you using any special Desktop themes by any chance ?

What version of Ubuntu MATE are you using, what are your specifications - providing more information would help us help you in a more meaningful way

I don't think I am using a theme, though the icon does increase in size when I hover over it. Oddly enough, if an icon shows as missing, the hover magnifying will often show the expected icon, but when I move away from the hover, it goes back to the placeholder icon.

I was using Ubuntu Mate 24.04.1 LTS.

My icon problem could have been related to much larger computer issue. Shortly after posting my message, my system became unstable and was rebooting randomly. I spent most of the month of October and into November testing all my hardware. Turned out to be either a motherboard or CPU problem. I ended up rebuilding an entirely new machine.

I am using the same hard drives, though. And since I did all this, I haven't had any of those icon problems.

I did update the Nvidia driver because I also bought a new GPU. I am unsure if that would have an impact.

I don't know if I'll ever know what caused the problem....

I gotta say, Ubuntu Mate on this new machine is sweeeet.

Thanks for your reply, Alarik! And sorry I didn't respond sooner. It was a bit nuts with buying new parts and remembering how to build a computer. My old computer ran nicely for a decade. RIP.
