Sopcast,whelp! Really desperate about it

I know this is not really related to Ubuntu mate,but I don’t know where else to ask for help.
So… Help?

Whenever I execute the command :
tar cd sopcast-player-zxvf sopcast-player-0.8.5.tar.gz

I receive :
tar: You may not specify more than one '-Acdtrux', '--delete' or '--test-label' option Try 'tar --help' or 'tar --usage' for more information.

Its quite obvious that I am trying to install sopcast player,I am doing it by following this tutorial over here ,I hope this is not considered as spam or something else,I am pointing out the tutorial only by the hope that someone gets an idea why this is not working.

I am quite new to linux,so please don’t judge my knowledge about it.

Looks like the command has a couple of typos, use this instead:

tar -zxvf sopcast-player-0.8.5.tar.gz

  • tar - the command
  • -zxvf - the parameters
  • -z - Use GZip (the .gz extension)
  • -x - Extract
  • -v - Output files (verbose)
  • -f - File
  • *.tar.gz - the archive
