SSD shows radical decrease in volume with every boot

Starting with fresh 32 gig SSD, have downloaded image twice, and reinstalled it 4 times so far. Tried also on 8 gig chip, same problem. Eventually cannot get enough space to load new apps. Both SSDs operate well and reliably with other Operating Systems. When I put the chip in my Windows 8.1 machine it shows the reduced volume. Reformatting the SD seems to be the only way to regain the lost volume. I get an error message on boot up that the disk space is very small.
I look forward to using Mate on the RP2+, but cannot at this rate.

You need to resize the file system in order to utilize the full capacity of the micro SD card. Follow the instructions on this page:

Scroll down to the section titled “Re-size file system.”

Edit: Just an fyi, SSDs and SD cards are not one and the same. SSD stands for Solid State Drive. They are flash based and are used in desktops and laptops in place of conventional hard drives (mechanical).

Micro SD cards on the other hand are small, flash based media used in cellular phones, tablets, cameras and other devices, such as the Raspberry Pi 2.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I actually do know the difference between Sd, and SSD. Got a tad sloppy in my terminology. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Anytime. I hope my post helped. And I also hope I didn’t come across as rude in my reply - reading it back I can see how it could be interpreted that way - but I do apologize if I did.

Skorpien; I’ll give the fix a try as soon as i wake up… As for rudeness, no, I did not take it that way.
Once again thanks for the reply.
