Stability of dconf keys in MATE

I’ve noted that most of the configurations in MATE resides in dconf, which is relatively convenient when it comes to provisioning the system automatically after install. However, how stable are these dconf key names? With a provisioning system configuring these keys, the keys become almost sort of like an API.

I know the dconf config keys for the applications are not documented, but should they be? What about deprecation policy? Are there any interest to support making these dconf keys stable and supported to make MATE friendly towards provisioning and therefore larger scale deployment?
