State of Backup in UM

Is it just me, or is having Déjà Dup as the backup in UM kind of useless? I attempted to restore something and realized that Caja doesn’t have any integration with the backup utility. Maybe I’m just missing something. Any suggestions?

I’d love to hear of alternative back solutions

Actually Déjà Dup is quite good. It’s a shame that Caja doesn’t work with it. What is everyone else using right now? One thing I really like about Déjà Dup/Duplicity is that I can easily back up encrypted files to Amazon S3 which is super cheap.

Systemback seems nice as it takes a snapshot of your system and configuration files and creates a live image as well if desired.

So does Déjà Dup have some sort of integration with other file managers?

Just Nautilus to my knowledge.

I added a Caja extension to Deja Dup

Thanks, Wimpy! Much appreciated.

Hello, I’m new here.
Where can I find your Caja extension, please?

@folkfreund Well, that situation is getting quite interesting. I’ll announce something, one way or another, in the next week or so

For completeness of this old thread, deja-dup integration is available as an extension for the Caja File Manager in the package deja-dup-caja. It’s installed by default.
