Anyone know where the Sticky Notes panel app saves note contents? Ideally, I'd like to change it, but at the very least I want to know where it is so that I can add it to a backup.
Never mind, found it: ~/.config/mate/stickynotes-applet.xml

I discovered they're actually tucked away in this cryptic-sounding 'plum.sqlite' file. Sounds mysterious, right? Well, it's nestled deep in your user profile directory under AppData.

Now, about changing its location...let's just say it's not as easy as it seems. But you can still salvage your precious notes by backing them up from there. But here's a little tip if you're still on the prowl for a more adaptable note-taking approach. Have you heard about online notes? They're like little digital post-its floating in the cloud. What's cool is some of them come with a self-destruct feature, kind of like those top-secret messages in spy movies.
