Sticky Notes are lost on logout or reboot

Hello all,
I performed a search for this issue but did not find one so, hopefully this is not a duplicate.

I found that sticky notes created via the sticky notes applet are lost on logout or reboot. It seems to be an issue where the directory “mate” is not created in the user’s “~/.config/” directory i.e. ~/.config/mate/. Once I created this directory, stick notes seems to work just fine.

This file was generated automatically for me.

I could not reproduce your bug.

Kernel: 4.4.0-62-generic x86_64 (64 bit)
Desktop: MATE 1.12.1 Distro: Ubuntu 16.04 xenial

Same here:

Also Ubuntu MATE 16.04.
What version of Ubuntu MATE are you using @BCPalmer?

@anon42388993 and @ouroumov,
Release 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) 64-bit
Kernel Linux 4.8.0-38-generic x86_64
MATE 1.16.0
Thank you both for your replies. I am running 16.10 through virtualbox at work (where the issue is) and 16.10 at home directly on hardware. Interestingly, the ~/.config/mate directory exists on my installation at home so, no issue there, just the virtualized install here at work. I’m not sure if it’s a fluke on the virtual install or if it has to do with another applet on my home system creating the mate directory before I installed sticky-notes. I’ll do some more digging as I have time. When I created the mate directory yesterday, the following showed up:
bcpalmer@bcpalmer-VirtualBox-Mate:~/.config/mate$ ll
total 36
drwxrwxr-x 2 bcpalmer bcpalmer 4096 Feb 20 12:48 ./
drwxr-xr-x 21 bcpalmer bcpalmer 4096 Feb 21 08:53 …/
-rw-rw-r-- 1 bcpalmer bcpalmer 24367 Feb 20 12:48 backgrounds.xml
-rw-rw-r-- 1 bcpalmer bcpalmer 208 Feb 21 08:56 stickynotes-applet.xml
bcpalmer@bcpalmer-VirtualBox-Mate:~/.config/mate$

Thanks again for your time.
I’m working to get much deeper in Linux world and really like Ubuntu Mate so far!
