I have a WQHD display on my laptop and I am scaling the MATE interface using the setting in Fonts (not the 2x dpi option in MATE Tweak). Everything works perfectly except that the text of the desktop icons is wrapping strangely. I am unsure of whether this is a bug or if I am just missing something. I have already tried all the checkboxes in the Caja settings. Notice how in the first screenshot below the icon labels on the desktop wrap prematurely (and sometimes seemingly randomly), and in the second one Caja itself displays the exact same files just fine... almost as though the column size is configured incorrectly on the desktop, but I can't figure out how to change it.
